Sound Recording Service
Whether we are recording you at a large venue, your rehearsal space, a barn or loft, your front room or even in the bathroom, our process is always the same. We aim to take the bother out of making a recording, all you have to do is show up and perform. Below is a short description of the process.
Set Up & Recording
We set up our equipment discreetly so as not to interfere with what you are doing, and let you do what you do best. We ensure mic placements are non-obstructive, and once we have made sure you are coming through loud and clear, we press record. If it's a live show we'll be there and set up well before you start.
During the recording process we will be monitoring sound levels, making sure signals are coming through well, and perhaps offering suggestions to help you to make the most of your recording experience.
Mixing & Mastering
Once we have made sure we have your performance 'in the can', we take the sound files back to our studio space where the process of mixing and mastering takes place. We want your instruments, or voices, to sound as authentically 'you' as possible, so we try not to use too many effects, just enough to enhance what you have done without spoiling the overall 'vibe'. Then we blend the sound levels so that the overall sound picture is cohesive and pleasing to the ear. The mastering process is similar, but matches up sound levels of all the tracks to create a balanced overall sound.
Communication
Once the first mixes have been completed we send you the files to listen to, usually via Dropbox, or if it's a big file, WeTransfer. It's important that you give us good feedback at this stage so that we are all on the same page with how you want things to sound. This process continues until all parties are happy.
